Knights Dance Their Way to Satisfying Victory

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE     - March 14th, 2025

Milwaukie, Ore.| The Knights Softball Program danced their way to a victory tonight in game one against the University of Providence with a final score of 7-5.

The Knights started the game off shaky giving up a couple runs in the first inning but they came roaring right back in the bottom of the first with three of their own to take a 3-2 lead. They scored on an error as well as a Kili Makanani double down the left field line scoring Kiara Kamimae all the way from first base. The last run of the inning was knocked in by Hailey Ferguson who singled to center scoring Makanani.

The Knights continued to score in the third inning when Noe Barawis took a pitch that hit her with the bases loaded plating a run. Then in the fourth, Ferguson came up again and continued her great day, spanking a triple that bounced in front of a diving Argos left fielder rolling into the corner. Scoring on that play was Taylor Groza who pinch-ran for the pitcher Briana Munoz who got on with a walk.

The Argos scored three more to tie the game at five and then the Knights won the game in the sixth inning. Kili Makanani plated the winning run, doubling down the left field line again plating Kamimae. The Knights then plated an insurance run when Nia Tate who came in as a relief pitcher helped herself out with a double to center field scoring Makanani.

The Knights were extremely efficient, scoring seven runs on seven hits with Ferguson and Makanani both having two runs-batted-in apiece. Briana Munoz picked up her second win of the season now moving to 2-7 on the season. The Knights are now 3-14 overall and 2-4 in conference play.
