Knights Win First Games Against the Yotes in Program History

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - March 29th, 2025

Milwaukie, Ore.| Knights Softball won their first two games in program history against The College of Idaho today.

The final score of game one was 4-3 with game two ending 5-4. Both games were hard fought but thanks to two big innings late in both games the Knights moved to four conference wins on the year.

Game one
In the first win of the day, the Knights scored all their runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Yotes did scratch a few back, but the Knights sharpened the sword and pushed on to victory. Three of the runs in the fourth came from a massive triple by Noe Barawis, and the fourth RBI was by Rachel Behn.

Besides the triple, Barawis added another hit and three more steals to her totals. Pitching wise, Kili Makanani earned her second win of the year pitching a complete game with three strikeouts and only two earned runs. Kili Makanani is the first pitcher to ever win a game against the Yotes in program history.

Game two
Game two was a thing of beauty as the end of March winning streak continued due to a huge comeback. The Knights put up another massive fourth run inning in the bottom of the sixth after trailing the Yotes for most of the game. This win was a team effort as all Knights played a role in the big win.

The comeback started in a loud way when Rachel Behn hit her first home run of the season. It was a pull job that was absolutely crushed down the left field line to give the Knights their first run of the game. Later, Kili Makanani drilled a ball to dead center field that hit the very top of the wall and unluckily bounced back onto the field of play due to the padding on top of the wall flexing downwards spring boarding the ball back onto the field. While that was unlucky, it did bring in two runs bringing the Knights closer yet to the Yotes. Maddie Gamble knocked in the game winning run when she lined out to center field bringing in Makanani from third on the sacrifice fly.

Barawis also brought her daily steal total to five on the day, swiping two more bags in game two. The win, no matter how well the offense showed out, was thanks to Briana Munoz who earned her fourth win of the year. Munoz went all seven, with two strikeouts and only two walks allowed.

Up next
The Knights will hit the road, and travel to beautiful Helena, Montana next weekend to play Carroll College on Friday and Saturday. Fridays games are set for 1pm and 3pm with Saturdays at 10am and 12pm. All four games are to take place at Nelson Stadium on the campus of Carroll College.
