FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - April 11th, 2025
Klamath Falls, Ore.| The Warner Pacific Knights Baseball team saw their losing streak go to 13 games today losing two tough games to Oregon Tech.
The Knights lost both games today by final scores of 11-8 and 15-10.
Game One
The Knights in game one played a great game offensively being very efficient scoring eight runs on seven hits. The biggest hit of the day came from Trenten Lowe who hit his second home run of the season in as many games in the top of the fourth inning. It was a huge pull job to left field that was a no doubter. It was very similar to last week's home run hit by Lowe that was blasted to left field clearing the 10 rows of bleachers at Harris Field in Lewiston, Idaho. This home run was of the three run variety which pulled the Knights to within a run at 6-5.
Connor Hale had himself a game going two for four from the dish. His two hits were very timely, bringing in three runs. A ground out to shortstop brought in another run bringing his RBI total up to four on the day. Alex Nisbet brought the other run in on a fielding error by the Owls third baseman. Even though Nisbet doesn't get credited with the RBI on the play, he still put it in play and created an opportunity to score which shouldn't go unnoticed.
Ayden Yaeger got the start in game one and went nearly seven innings giving up 14 hits, gave up 11 runs (10 earned), struck out five batters, and walked five. Yaeger with the loss moves to 2-6 on the year in nine starts.
Game Two
The Knights in game two experienced one of the most heartbreaking losses of the season seeing a 6-3 lead turn into a 15-10 defeat.
The Knights were blistering hot from the dish scoring their 10 runs on 16 hits. Three Knights had multiple RBI's in the contest. Mason Deverna, who started the game on the mound for the Knights had two RBI's as well as Connor Hale and Collin Schiller. Mitchell Thoma-Britt and Colby Barnes each led the Knights in hitting with three apiece with no RBI's.
The Knights going into the bottom of the eighth inning were tied at nine. The tie was broken in a big way in that inning as the Owls batted through the order scoring six runs without even having a hit in the frame. Every way with the exception of one scenario that you can possibly score a run without getting a hit was done in the inning. Walks, hit by pitches, sacrifice flies, and even a balk drove in runs. The only scenario that didn't happen to bring in a run was an error. The Knights minus a lead off triple in the ninth went quietly giving the Owls a 15-10 win.
Mason Deverna got the ball to start the game and went five innings giving up six runs in which five were earned, struck out two, and walked two. Kaden Hindman came in and pitched two innings giving up six runs in which all were earned, struck out two, and walked two. Jaxon Hamada finished the game for the Knights, giving up three of the runs in the eighth inning, struck out one, and walked four. Deverna received a no decision as his result today with Hamada receiving the loss.
