McMinnville, Ore.| Under the lights on a Monday, the Knights Men's Soccer team took on the Linfield Wildcats and took home a satisfying victory pitching a 2-0 shutout.
The Knights scored both their goals in the first half starting with one just six minutes into the event sent in by
Bryan Carmona who added his name to the list of Knights players who have one goal on the year. It is his first goal as a Knight and first as a collegiate athlete. The second goal for the Knights came right before halftime in the 34
th minute when a ball hit the back of the net struck by Bodo Calderon. It was Calderon's seventh goal of the season. Calderon now is in a three-way tie for second in the country in goals scored. Pablo Ortega Herreros out of Mount Mercy University sits alone in first place with eight. Herreros has played in six games though while Calderon has played in four.
The Knights dominated offensively and defensively. Offensively, the Knights put up 14 shots including four on goal. Linfield only managed two total shots including one on goal.
Next Up
The Knights are now 3-1 and will take their momentum into this upcoming Sunday when they have a non-conference match against conference opponent, Evergreen State College. This game was added after the Knights found out that their first game of the season against George Fox was changed to a scrimmage due to a scheduling error. The game will be at Eastside Timbers Complex with kickoff scheduled for 2pm.
