Knights Fall to Impressive Mountaineers Squad

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – January 3rd, 2026

La Grande, Ore.| Knights Women's Basketball faced off against the Mountaineers of Eastern Oregon tonight at Quinn Coliseum and were nearly doubled up with the final score being 91-48.

The Knights tonight was led by Shielteal Watah who had a heck of a game with 15 points, six rebounds, and two steals. Skylar Groesbeck continues to fill up the stat sheet with 13 points and three rebounds.

Eastern Oregon had a powerful attack led by Haylee Johnson who finished with 16 points followed by Reigha Niemeyer who had 15.

"Eastern Oregon came out with a lot of physicality that made it hard for us to get in a rhythm out of the gate," Head Coach Jimmy Smith said. "We responded well in the second quarter, but they kept the foot on the gas the whole game. It's time to head home and regroup."
