Knights Bang Out 22 Hits in Two Wins Over Corban to Start 2026 Campaign

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – January 31st,  2025

Salem, Ore.| Warner Pacific Knights Baseball began their season today on the road against Corban University and swept the day getting two wins.

In game one, the Knights came ready to go from the get go with a 8-1 win. Game two was a closer game due to some fight from the Warriors but the Knights pulled out the win 8-7.

Game One
In game one, the Knights got the bulk of their runs in the top of the second inning scoring five with Colin Schiller's drag bunt getting the offense going scoring 2 runs with a wild throw by Corban. The Knights would later score one in the fourth, fifth, and finally in the seventh. Corban would get on the board late to score a run in the bottom of the ninth.

Ayden Yaeger would get the ball for game one and would not disappoint, throwing a complete game with three strikeouts and a walk. The offense was led by Conner Hale who hit for three RBI's, followed by Mitchell Thoma-Brit getting his first home run of the season. Alex Nesbit and Mason Deverona would also have one RBI apiece.

Game two
This game was a slug fest for the Knights as they would put up 16. WarnerPac would score first in the top of the first, and would heat up in the fourth, scoring five runs, followed by one in the sixth. Corban would quickly respond with four in the bottom of fifth with the Knights only scoring one in the sixth. Corban would score two in the seventh and one in the ninth, putting up a fight but it was not enough.

Offensively, The Knights were led by Anthony Zisa who went three for five with an RBI. Conner Hale gathered two hits and an RBI for himself. Derek Homer in his first game as a Knight had a big two run single. Freshman, Cody Brewer coming in to pinch hit recorded his first college hit and stolen base. All this backed by the pitching of the Knights with despite Corbin rallying at the end it would be Nathen Van Dooren to shut the door on them.

Next Up
With a great start to their season, the Knights now look for the sweep as they play Corban again tomorrow. They will play once again at Roto Rooter field at 12pm.
