Eugene, Ore.| The Knights took on Bushnell University today and took game one 6-5 in 10 innings and then lost game two 7-5 blowing a lead.
Game One
The Knights in game one started early in the first inning when
Mitchell Thoma-Britt singled to center field plating
Connor Hale putting the Knights up early 1-0. After giving up two runs in the second to the Beacons, the Knights tied the game up in the sixth inning when
Alex Nisbet played some small ball with a sacrifice fly to center field allowing Hale to once again make his way home to score a run. Hale continued to put his mark all over this game doubling to right field in the seventh inning scoring
Trenten Lowe. This was the first of three runs scored in the seventh inning. The big hit in the inning was Thoma-Britt who knocked his fourth home run of the season with
Anthony Zisa already on base. The Knights would then give up three runs of their own in the seventh inning which knotted the contest up at five apiece. The game ended up going into extra innings where the Knights would strike in the top half of the frame on a sacrifice fly scoring Thoma-Britt.
Connor Hale came in to pitch the bottom of the tenth and would complete his second save of the season almost facing the minimum allowing just one base runner on a walk.
Game Two
The Knights just like in game one got started very early scoring two runs in the top of the first inning with
Alex Nisbet and Collin Schiller each picking up RBIs. Warner Pacific continued to dominate in the second inning, scoring three more runs.
Connor Hale and Nisbet picked up the RBIs in this frame with the big hit coming from a double hit by Nisbet plating two. Unfortunately, little did the Knights know that those five runs in the first two innings would be the last runs scored of the day by the good guys. The Beacons would start their comeback in the seventh inning after being held scoreless through sixth due to masterful pitching from
Ayden Yaeger. The Beacons would knock Yaeger out of the game, scoring three runs in the seventh all charged to Ayden.
Mason Deverna came out in relief and cleaned up the mess getting the last two outs of the seventh leaving the score 5-3 in favor of the Knights. The Beacons continued to smell blood in the water, scoring two runs in the eighth inning to tie the game and then with all momentum seized, hit a walk-off two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth ending the contest.
