Knights Run Into Buzzsaw Against the Beacons Today

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – February 21th,  2025

Eugene, Ore.| Warner Pacific Knights Baseball played in a doubleheader against Bushnell University and lost both games by scores of 21-1 and 16-3.

Game Three
Bushnell University exploded on day two scoring a total of 21 runs building momentum inning by inning before breaking the game wide open in the middle frames. Bushnell jumped ahead in the first on a two-run homer in which Warner would respond with a big solo blast but that's where Bushnell really pulled away. The Beacons added four more runs in the fourth. The decisive big blow came in the fifth when Bushnell erupted for eight runs.

Warner Pacific struggled offensively throughout, collecting only two hits. One of those hits was a big fly for Trenten Lowe as he leaves the yard for the first time this season. Mason Deverona's late double was the second and last hit for the Knights in the game. On the mound, the Knights had difficulty containing Bushnell's lineup after the early innings. Starter Jaxon Hamada allowed five runs in three innings before the bullpen ran into trouble starting with Jacob Quinlan and Brady Windham combining to give up 14 runs in just over an inning of work. Eiji Sato provided some steady relief, striking out three over the final 1.2 innings but by then, Bushnell's offensive power surge had already sealed the game.

Game four
Warner Pacific struck first in the opening inning with a RBI single but Bushnell answered immediately with a run of its own and then seized control in the second. The Beacons scored four times in that inning highlighted by an RBI double and a two-run homer to make it 5–1. Warner Pacific showed life in the third, cutting the deficit to 5–3, but Bushnell responded with a three-run blast. A three-run homer in the fourth, followed by steady run production in the fifth and sixth helped the Beacons steadily extend the lead.

Offensively, Warner Pacific managed five hits and showed flashes early, with Hank Kern leading the way by reaching base three times and launching a home run, with Ryland Detzler getting two hits and Connor Hale adding a pair of singles and an RBI. However, the Knights were unable to get anything going after the third inning and were limited to just one hit the rest of the game. On the mound, starter Brooks Frere took the loss after allowing 10 runs in 3.2 innings as Bushnell's lineup heated up. Kaden Hindman and Aaron Newton provided relief but the Beacons continued to add runs late making it difficult for Warner Pacific to stack up any type of comeback in this one.
