Knights Sweep Aside Loggers With Huge Offensive Output

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – February 22nd, 2026

Milwaukie, Ore.| The Warner Pacific Softball team had their home opener today and faced off against The University of Puget Sound in a doubleheader. They had a great day as they took both games with final scores of 4-1 and 14-8.

Game one
The Knights jumped ahead immediately in the first inning on a solo home run and extended the lead over the next several innings. Warner Pacific took advantage of errors in the third scoring twice on an error and an RBI single to build a 3–0 advantage. An RBI double in the fifth would extend the lead to 4–0 before Puget Sound finally broke through with a solo homer in the sixth but the Knights' early lead was enough to seal the win.

Offensively, Warner Pacific produced up and down with Noe Barawis setting the tone with her leadoff inside the park home run and scoring twice, while Ryleah Torres drove in two runs and Kili Makanani added an RBI hit. The Knights didn't need much offensive production due to strong pitching and defense. In the circle, Makanani threw a complete game, allowing just one run on five hits while striking out ten. This was also Makanani's birthday, which made her performance even more special. This dominant pitching performance along with strong hitting was good enough to seal the win in game one.

Game Two
Puget Sound came back with a fight, getting ahead with three runs in the first inning and added two more in the fourth to build a 5–0 lead. The Knights got on the board in the fourth with a two-run homer off the bat of Nikki O'Reilly. Then things got crazy in the bottom of the fifth when the Knights erupted for 12 runs in the frame highlighted by a two-run homer by the birthday girl Makanani and multiple hits from the whole line up. Puget Sound scored one more in the sixth but the Knights' explosive fifth inning was too much for Puget Sound to come back from.

Warner Pacific's offense was unstoppable once it got rolling with Ryleah Torres leading the squad with four RBIs on two hits while Kili Makanani homered and drove in two. Nikki O'Reilly added a two-run blast of her own. Despite them being explosive on offense, the Knights created a lot of activity on the base paths due to patience at the plate drawing an insane 10 walks in the game. In the circle, Alex Brooks was the starter for this game and pitched an inning allowing four hits and three runs. It would be Kaylee Pokorny to finish off the game going six innings, allowing 10 hits, five runs, and five strikeouts. With plenty of offense, Pokorny's performance was enough pitching to secure the win for the Knights.

Next Up
This game will be their last nonconference game and now will be set up to take on the first conference opponent in the form of Bushnell University in a four game set this upcoming weekend. Game one is set for 1pm at Rich Schwab Field down in Eugene.
