Caldwell, Idaho.| Warner Pacific Baseball played a very long day of baseball but saw themselves win both games by final scores of 10-5 and 7-4 in 13 innings.
Game One
The Knights in game one broke out the sticks earning seven hits resulting in ten runs. The Knights went quietly in the first inning but then broke through with four runs in the fourth, five more in the sixth, and one more for good measure in the seventh.
Giovanny Alvillar got it all started with a single to left field scoring
Mason Deverna from third.
Trenten Lowe sacrificed his body getting hit bringing in a run with the bases loaded and earning an RBI for his troubles. Haden Mirante got in on the fun drawing a bases loaded walk right after Lowe's at-bat bringing in another run. After the Knights broke out for four runs in the fourth, the Yotes showed major resolve and knocked in five runs in the third grabbing a one run lead going into the fourth. The sixth inning was a party for the Knights starting off with
Donny Tober who doubled to left field. After a Mirante single, "The Captain"
Mitchell Thoma-Britt stepped up and hit a massive three run dong putting the Knights back up for good. It was Thoma-Britt's sixth home run of the young season. Lowe played add on in the seventh doubling to center field scoring
Hank Kern and putting the Knights up 10-5.
Thoma-Britt led the Knights going 3-5 on the day with the big hit being the home run earning himself three more RBI's. It was Thoma-Britt's 26
th RBI of the season leading the team in that category. Mirante, Kern, and
Giovanny Alvillar each finished with two hits apiece. Corbin Sterner led the way for the Yotes going 2-4 earning himself an RBI along the way.
Ayden Yaeger got the ball to start game one and went the distance going nine innings throwing just 98 pitches to get 27 outs. Yaeger gave up five runs in which four were earned. Yaeger walked four batters, struck out three, and hit one. Yaeger improved his win-loss record to 2-2. The Yotes sent five pitchers out to the mound. Willy Shirts picked up the loss pitching 4.2 innings giving up five runs in which all were earned.
Game Two
The Knights got started early in game two scoring two runs in the first on a Collin Schiller single to right field scoring
Connor Hale and Mirante. The Knights then went quiet till the eighth inning until Lowe earned an RBI walk tying the game up at 2. Things got wild from there as the Knights and Yotes remained deadlocked until the 12
th inning when the Knights scored on an Alvillar single. The Yotes matched the Knights in the bottom of the inning extending the game to the 13
th. In the 13
th, the Knights banged in three runs with RBI hits from
Landen Sigler, Deverna, and Schiller.
Payton Smith came in to get the save which was his first of his career as a Knight.
The Knights in this contest scored seven runs on 12 hits, drawing an impressive eight walks. The Knights did strike out ten times which they will work on improving tomorrow. The Yotes scored four runs on 12 hits walking nine times and striking out five.
Jaxon Hamada got the start in this one and picked up a no decision going six innings giving up five hits and just one earned run.
Hank Kern picked up the win going five innings giving up just four hits, and two earned runs.
Next Up
The Knights will be back at it tomorrow morning in Caldwell, Idaho against the Yotes. The games will be at 10am and 1pm and will be streamed live on the Urban Edge Network.
