Knights Split Day in Series Loss to Simpson

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – March 22nd, 2026

Milwaukie, Ore.| Warner Pacific Softball finished their four-game series at home versus Simpson University and split the day to avoid the sweep. Game three went in favor of Warner Pacific 6-4 while game four went to Simpson 11-1.

Game Three

This game started off hot for the Red Hawks as they had a three-run first inning with multiple hits to get the day started. The Knights wouldn't go quiet though as they scored their first run on a single. After a quiet second inning for both teams, Simpson scored in the top of the third making the score 4-1. This is when the Knights began to take over, tying the game in the fourth inning with four runs with multiple hits and key situational hitting. The final lead change would be in the bottom fifth, scoring two runs, making the final score 6-4.

Offensively, the leader for the Knights would be Mailli Bode, going two for three with two RBI's. Followed by Jordyn Rosario going two for four with an RBI. Skylar Groesbeck and Nikki O'Reilly would secure one hit and one RBI for the squad. The Knights secured three bases today: Bode, Groesbeck, and Rosario. In the circle, Kaylee Pokorny would get the start in this game and would get touched up a little, going three innings, allowing four earned runs. Coming in to relieve and getting the win in this game would be Kili Makanani, throwing for four innings, zero earned runs, on three strikeouts.

Game Four

Next game, Simpson took back control, winning the series on a 11-1 game. Starting it off with two runs in the first. They would chip away the whole way to the win, scoring one in the third, four in the fourth, and one in the sixth. Knights would stop the mercy in the bottom of the sixth on a home run. Finally, Simpson would score three more runs in the top of the seventh to finish the game off.

Not as much offense in this one Knights only securing five hits but only striking out four times, so putting the ball in play just not dropping for them. Two of those hits came from Ryleah Torres with the solo RBI on the home run. Brylee-Rose Demello would get the other hit, and coming in to pinch hit was Groesbeck, who would get a hit. Macey Tovar would take the loss in this game, surrendering six runs in three innings of work. Alex Brools would pitch an inning, allowing one run. Nia Tate would close this game, throwing the last three, giving up four runs, striking out two.

Next Up

The Knights now take a break from conference play and a quick turnaround as they play against Western Oregon University on the road in a doubleheader. The games will be on Tuesday, with pitch one at 12 pm.
