Portland, Ore. | The Warner Pacific University women's volleyball team returned home Thursday evening for another Cascade Collegiate Conference matchup, hosting No. 12-ranked Lewis-Clark State College. Despite showing plenty of fight down the stretch, the Knights fell to the visiting Warriors in straight sets, 25-9, 25-16, 25-21.
Lewis-Clark State established control early behind an efficient and balanced attack, finishing the night with a .333 hitting percentage. The Warriors jumped out in front with a dominant opening set, holding Warner Pacific to a -.032 hitting percentage on their way to a 25-9 victory.
Warner Pacific continued to battle in the second frame, finding more offensive production behind the net play of Josie Schultz and Amor Rapoza. However, Lewis-Clark State maintained its advantage with 15 kills in the set, taking it 25-16 to build a 2-0 lead in the match.
The Knights refused to go quietly in the third set, putting together their best offensive performance of the night and going toe-to-toe with the nationally ranked Warriors through several tight rallies. Service aces from Naomi Johnson and Daisci Burrows helped keep Warner Pacific within striking distance, but Lewis-Clark State hit .324 in the final frame to secure the 25-21 victory and complete the sweep.
Schultz led the Knights at the net, tallying five kills while hitting an efficient .385. Rapoza delivered a strong all-around performance with four kills, a team-high 11 assists, and nine digs. Tayah-Anne Toa added four kills and nine digs, while Burrows contributed four assists, six digs, and two service aces.
Defensively, Rapoza and Maya Moreno paced Warner Pacific with nine digs apiece, while Madison Flores added two service aces for the Knights.
For Lewis-Clark State, Addison Wilson recorded a team-high nine kills, while Michaela Romine contributed eight. Kendall Focht directed the Warriors' offense with 16 assists, and Makenzie Stout anchored the back row with 12 digs.

After a strong finish to Thursday evening's match, the Knights will look to carry that momentum into their next Cascade Collegiate Conference contest. Warner Pacific returns to action Saturday against Walla Walla University at 9 p.m. inside C.C. Perry Gymnasium/Fitness Center.
