#25 Knights Draw 0-0 in Conference Opener in Idaho

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – September 18, 2026

PORTLAND, Ore. | The No. 25-ranked Warner Pacific University men's soccer team battled The College of Idaho through 90 minutes of conference action, with the Knights and Yotes ultimately finishing in a 0-0 draw.

Warner Pacific controlled much of the attacking pressure throughout the match, finishing with a 16-9 advantage in total shots and putting eight attempts on goal compared to three from College of Idaho. Despite creating opportunities throughout both halves, the Knights were unable to find the finishing touch against a Yotes defense that turned away each threat.

The Knights established themselves offensively early, outshooting College of Idaho 7-3 in the opening 45 minutes. Luis Gonzalez tested the Yotes' goalkeeper in the 10th minute before Lewis Rumrey followed with another shot on goal in the 17th. Gonzalez continued applying pressure with another attempt minutes later, while Mario Jauregui-Vallarta and Julio Andrade each forced saves as Warner Pacific searched for the opening goal.

Neither side could break through before halftime, sending the match into the second half scoreless.

Warner Pacific continued to push forward after the break, producing nine more shots. Gonzalez immediately put the Yotes under pressure with a shot on goal in the 47th minute, while Bryan Jimenez, Carson Dennis, Rumrey and others helped the Knights maintain their attack as the half progressed.

The Knights made a strong push over the final 20 minutes. Gonzalez forced another save in the 76th minute, Rumrey put an attempt on frame in the 80th and Jimenez followed with a shot on goal in the 82nd. Warner Pacific continued pressing through the final whistle but could not find the goal it needed to break the deadlock.

Gonzalez led Warner Pacific's attack with four shots, including three on goal. Rumrey added three shots with two on target, while Bryan Jimenez finished with three attempts and one on goal. Jauregui-Vallarta and Andrade each added a shot on target as the Knights finished with eight shots on goal.

On the other end of the field, goalkeeper Owen Purvis and the Warner Pacific defense kept College of Idaho off the board. Purvis recorded three saves over the full 90 minutes to secure the clean sheet.

Following the match, Warner Pacific head coach Troy Ready praised his team's effort while pointing to finishing as the difference in the result.

"Conference matches are always another level of intensity. I'm proud of the effort that our players exhibited as they pushed all the way through the final whistle to find a goal. Unfortunately, we were not able to capitalize on the chances we created, which eventually was the difference between us winning the match and ending up with a tie," Ready said.

The draw moves Warner Pacific to 2-1-2 on the season, while College of Idaho moves to 0-3-2.
