Knights Struggle Offensively in Loss to Providence

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – September 26, 2026

Great Falls, Mont.| The Warner Pacific University men's soccer team came up just short on the road Saturday afternoon, falling to the University of Providence by a final score of 1-0.

Providence struck first in the 30th minute when Geovanni Lugo found the back of the net for what ultimately proved to be the game-winning goal, giving the Argonauts a 1-0 advantage heading into halftime.

Despite the deficit, Warner Pacific controlled much of the tempo and applied consistent pressure to the Providence back line throughout the afternoon. The Knights held a commanding 17-3 advantage in shots for the match, including an 8-1 edge over the final 45 minutes as they relentlessly searched for the equalizer.

Warner Pacific also finished with a 6-1 advantage in shots on goal and earned three corner kicks.

Carson Dennis led the Knights' attack with three shots, putting all three on frame. Bryan Jimenez, Felix Mendoza, and Bryan Martinez each added two shot attempts, while seven Warner Pacific players recorded at least one shot in the effort.

In goal, Jonathan Flores played the full 90 minutes for Warner Pacific. On the other end, Providence goalkeeper Andrew Schoenen recorded six saves to preserve the clean sheet and hold off the Knights' attack.

The physical conference matchup featured 19 total fouls, with Providence committing 13 compared to Warner Pacific's six. Neither side received a card during the match.
