Olympia, Wash.| The Warner Pacific University women's volleyball team traveled to Olympia on Saturday evening for a Cascade Collegiate Conference matchup against The Evergreen State College. Despite battling throughout the night, the Knights fell to the Geoducks in straight sets, 25-11, 25-16, 25-13.
Tayah-Anne Toa paced the Warner Pacific attack with a team-high six kills, while
Amor Rapoza added four kills and
Naomi Johnson contributed three. Rapoza turned in an efficient performance at the net, finishing with a .273 hitting percentage.
Daisci Burrows directed the Knights' offense with a team-high 13 assists while also adding five digs. Defensively,
Maya Moreno anchored the back line with nine digs, followed by Rapoza with six and Burrows with five.
Evergreen State was led offensively by Sophia Scroggins, who recorded nine kills and three service aces, while Annalise Orlowski finished with eight kills. Jayden Vaimaona directed the Geoducks' offense with 20 assists and added a match-high four service aces.
As a team, Warner Pacific finished the match with 20 kills, 17 assists, one service ace, and 31 digs.
Head Coach Nerisa Laban spoke about the adversity the Knights faced before the match and the adjustments the team was forced to make.
"We had a rough start with a concussion during warmups, but we battled in the second set," Laban said. "The lineup change after the loss of our middle blocker didn't help, but we stayed aggressive with our serving."

The Knights will now return home to prepare for a matchup against No. 6-ranked College of Idaho on Thursday. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Eastside Timbers Sports Complex.
