Troy Ready (pronounced Ree-dee) was named the Warner Pacific University Head Men’s soccer coach in 2017. He obtained his USSF "A" coaching license in 2015, and an (AFC) Asian Football Confederation "B" coaching license in 2013. Ready joined the Knights staff after playing professionally overseas, along with 3 seasons for the Portland Timbers. During his time abroad, Ready was on the coaching staff for a professional team (Vakhsh FC), Tajikistan's National Team, and served as technical director for the Tajikistan Football Federation. Upon returning to the United States, he spent 5 years as a member of the coaching staff for the Portland Timbers U23’s Pro Development team, and now coaches the USL2 Pathway to Pro team, United PDX during the summer.
In his seven years at the helm of the Warner Pacific program, Ready has celebrated many players receiving All-Conference Honors, multiple Offensive Players of the Year, Defender of the Year, several All-Americans, and many others who have been named to the Academic All-Conference team.
Most recently, Ready has been named the Cascade Conference Coach of the Year in three consecutive seasons (2020/2021/2022). In 2022, the team finished 19-1-3 which was the 2nd best overall record in the entire nation. After winning another Conference Championship, they also won the CCC Tournament Championship before suffering their only loss of the season to the University of Mobile, who were the National Champion Runner-Up. A year prior, in 2021, they finished the campaign with a 15-2-1 regular season record. Warner Pacific University ended the 2021 season as Conference Champions, received an automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament, and were also in the Championship match of the post-season CCC Tournament. The prior year was marked by another successful outing as they posted an 11-3 record in 2020. To date, Ready and his staff have improved the program year after year from a 3-win team in 2017, to a 19-win team by the end of 2022.
The native of Spokane, Washington received a scholarship from the University of Washington, where he completed his degree in Speech Communication. As a player, Ready was the Huskies leading scorer as a senior, team MVP, and named PAC-10 All-League for his efforts. Upon graduation, Ready was drafted in the 1st Round by the Seattle Sounders, but opted for seeking to obtain a work permit for two clubs in Norway's 1st Division that wanted to sign him to a contract.
Troy also has a passion to use the platform of soccer for community development. He is currently serving in his 10th season as the chaplain for the Portland Timbers, was co-humanitarian of the year as a player, and spent 4 years in Central Asia using soccer as a vehicle for relief and development.
In his free time, you'll often find him playing the guitar, singing, and watching either Gonzaga basketball or the Portland Timbers with friends and family. Troy and his wife, Jenny, have been married for 19 years and have three sons; Myles, Keats, and Tanner.
