Bernie Fagan

Coach Fagan is a long-time fixture on the Portland soccer scene, starting with his tenure as a popular player for the Portland Timbers in 1980.

His professional playing career spanned 16 years of soccer. 10 years in England included stops at Northhampton, Charlton, Shrewsbury, Scarborough, and his hometown club of Sunderland.

After moving to the States, Fagan had stints with the Seattle Sounders, Los Angeles Aztecs, Detroit Lightning (indoor), and finally with the Timbers from 1980-82.

Fagan's first season with Warner Pacific was the fall of 1982, and he led the Knights until 1991. Fagan guided the Knights to three appearances in the NAIA National Tournament during this time, including a 3rd place finish in 1985. WP men's soccer went an incredible 69-0-2 in NAIA District 2 regular season play from 1982 to 1990, capturing nine consecutive district championships. After several years coaching the Portland State women's soccer team, he returned to WP in 1998 and restarted a program that was dormant for 8 years.

He is also the founder of Bernie Fagan Soccer Camps, which has been a Portland favorite for youth since 1983. Recently, he bacame a Technical Director at BSC Oregon after a merger of youth clubs in the Portland area. 

The 2009 season marked a high point for Coach Fagan and Warner Pacific soccer, as the Knights won their first Cascade Conference Championship and earned a berth in the NAIA National Soccer Tournament. 

In 25 years of coaching the Knights, Bernie's win/loss record is 253-175-35.
