Slow Start Dooms Lady Knights at EOU

LA GRANDE, Ore. - Warner Pacific fell behind early for the second straight game, this time at Eastern Oregon as the 10th ranked Mountaineers took advantage and sent the Knights to a 84-59 defeat.

WP found themselves facing a 17-4 deficit six minutes into the game and never recovered. At the 9:31 mark Ali Campbell hit a short jumper to make the score 22-10, but a few minutes later consecutive turnovers which led to back-to-back treys by EOU broke the game open. The second make from distance made the score 33-12 in favor of the Mounties.

Aleena Cesaro dropped in a shot for WP in the final moments of the first half, but Eastern was well on their way to the victory at 43-20.

EOU made life more miserable for the Knights in the second period, eventually leading by as many as 42 points (80-38). The ball finally started to fall through the hoop for WP in the final six munites of the game, and the Knights went on a 21-4 run to close the gap to the final margin of 25 points. 

EOU's Kelsea Hurliman led all scorers with 23 points, shooting 8-11 from the field and 7-10 from behind the arc. Nicole Redd added 17 points and 6 assist.

Chelsey Christianson led Warner Pacific with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Morgan Wolff and Aleena Cesaro contributed with 9 and 8 points respectively.
 
Eastern would finish the game shooting 50% (31-61) from the field along with 50% (13-26) from behind the three point line compared to Warner Pacific's 36% (22-60) from the field and 27% (5-18) from behind the arc.
