Warner Pacific Shoots Past Cavaliers for First CCC Win

PORTLAND, Ore. – Warner Pacific secured their first Cascade Conference win of the season with a 86-76 decision over Concordia tonight at C.C. Perry Gym.

The 86 points is the most scored by the Knights this season, which included a season high of 11 three pointers made. The rebounding battle proved to be a deciding factor, with WPC grabbing 47 total rebounds compared to 33 for CU.

The visiting Cavaliers led by as many as 13 points in the early going thanks to Malori Dixon's 15 first half points. WP fought back however, and claimed the lead for good with 1:32 to play in the first period on a layup from Chelsey Christensen. The Knights led 44-41 at the break.

Warner Pacific built their advantage in the second period thanks to 8 of 15 shooting from three point range, while adding 8 of 10 tries from the free throw line. The Knights would lead by as many as 12 and eventually settled for the 10 point margin.

Chelsey Christensen dropped in 24 points to lead the Knights, and also grabbed nine rebounds. Tori Carroll played her best game of the season for WP, adding 19 points and a game high 12 rebounds. Nichole Jackson triggered the offense with 11 assists.

CU's Dixon led all scorers with 32 points with an array of shots from inside and out. Kelly Huey contributed 17 points and nine assists. 

Warner Pacific improves to 5-5 overall and 1-2 in CCC play, while Concordia falls to 5-6 and 0-3.
