PORTLAND, Ore. – Corban earned their first Cascade Conference win in eight tries with a 72-67 win over Warner Pacific today at Bart Valentine Court.

The result snapped a 10-game losing streak for the Warriors, who improve to 4-14 overall and 1-7 in CCC play. The host Knights fell to 9-8 and 5-3.

Corban used a 24-10 run in the middle of the first half, which erased a five point WP advantage and eventually sent the Warriors into the break with a 37-29 lead.

Warner Pacific scored the first eight points of the second period to tie the game at 37-37, but Corban responded with 10 straight points of their own and did not trail again. Chelsey Christensen hit a long three point shot with 38 seconds remaining to bring the Knights within 70-67, but Emily Tsugawa made 3 of 4 free throws for the Warriors down the stretch to keep the home team at bay.

Tess Bennett led the victors with 19 points on 8 of 13 shooting from the floor, while Jade Lowery added 15 points and seven rebounds.

The Knights were paced by Christensen and Tori Carroll with 19 points each, while Morgan Wolff added 12 points. WP shot 52.8 percent from the field on the night, but could not overcome 23 turnovers as a team.
