PORTLAND, Ore. – KayLee Engen scored a career high 22 points to lead Warner Pacific comfortably over Northwest Christian, 77-48 tonight at Bart Valentine Court.

The sophomore from Clatskanie hit 8 of 16 shot attempts including three makes from behind the arc. Her aggressive play at the rim also led to a trio of old fashioned three-point plays, as she was fouled on three made baskets – all in the second half.

Though the game turned into a rout, the first half was a close battle. The visiting Beacons scored the first six points of the game and led 12-11 with 14:59 showing on the clock. The host Knights managed to build a 10 point advantage (28-18) with 7:21 to play in the period, but NCU went on a 13-3 run to tie the game at 31-31. WP finished the half with a pair of buckets to take a 35-31 lead into the locker rooms.

The second half was all Warner Pacific, as the Knights held NCU to just 17 points after the break. While the Beacon shooters went cold, WPC looked to Engen and Chelsey Christensen for offensive punch. Christensen finished with a game high 23 points on the night, which included 4 of 6 makes from three point range. WP eventually led by as many as 32 points thanks to 47% shooting for the game while holding the Beacons to just 33%, including a frosty 21% in the second half.

Tori Carroll added 12 points and 11 rebounds for Warner Pacific, while Nichole Jackson passed for 10 assists.

Lindsey Shearer and Tami Brown led Northwest Christian with 12 points each, and Shearer added six assists.

With the result, Warner Pacific improved to 10-8 overall and 6-3 in Cascade Conference platy. Northwest Christian fell to 11-9 and 4-5.
