KIRKLAND, Wash. –
Morgan Wolff scored 24 points to help lead the Knights to thier fourth straight CCC win with a 72-60 victory over Northwest University tonight in the NU Pavilion.
Warner Pacific took a 34-26 lead at halftime as their defense limited Northwest U. to 25% shooting (9-36) for the period. The Knights led the entire half as they broke out to an early 27-7 lead as NU would get off to a cold start hitting 2 of 19 attempts. But the Eagles slowly crept back into the game and a 7-0 run at the end of the half cut the WPC lead to eight going into the locker room.
Wolff started the second half with a jumper, putting WPC up 36-26, but NU cut the lead to five (40-35) as the Eagles hit three treys in a row. Domi Mendezona hit one followed by two from Sanda Milovic. The Knights answered with a 12-3 run of their own to increase their lead to 14 points, 52-38 with 12:02 on the clock. Northwest would make another run at the Knights and Alyssa Dario's 3 pointer narrowed the gap to six (59-53) at the 5:56 mark. Wolff then scored six straight on her own and the Knights would put the game away, leading 70-58 with 1:45 left in the game.
Domi Mendezona and Alyssa Dario ties for team scoring honors for Northwest U. (2-11, 1-5 CCC) as each scored 13 points. Corinne Burke and Sanda Milovic both scored 8 points for the Eagles who shot 33% for the game going 22 for 66 from the field.
In addition to Wolff's game high 24 points for Warner Pacific (8-7, 4-2 CCC), she added 9 rebounds to her totals while hitting 8 of 14 shots.
Chelsey Christensen dropped in 16 points and grabbed 8 rebounds and
Melissa Carey added 7 points. The NAIA's assist leader
Nichole Jackson added a game high 12 dimes for the Knights who shot 40% for the night (25-63). WPC held the edge on rebounds with a 51-39 margin which included 15 offensive boards.
Both teams are back in action tomorrow night as Northwest U. hosts Concordia and Warner Pacific travels to Olympia to take on Evergreen. Both games are slated for 5:30 p.m. tip-offs.
