PORTLAND, Ore. – 17th ranked College of Idaho overcame a three point halftime deficit to spoil senior night at Warner Pacific College, 56-47, in women's basketball action at
Bart Valentine Court.
The visiting Yotes (19-7, 15-3 CCC) had already wrapped up the #2 seed in the Cascade Conference Tournament, and will host 7th seeded Northwest Christian in the first round. The Knights (16-12, 11-7 CCC) must settle for the 4th seed, and will host #5 seeded Southern Oregon. Both games will be on Tuesday, February 19th at 7:00 pm.
The host Knights were able to hit 48 percent of their field goal attempts in the first period on their way to a 29-26 lead at the break.
Chelsey Christensen had the hot hand for WP, scoring 15 points in the period including a trio of makes from behind the arc.
For the second straight game WPC struggled to find offense in the second half. C of I gained the lead at the 10:46 mark on a drive and score from Felicty Jones and did not trail again. The difference in the game came down to free throw as the Yotes made 19 of 34 attempts, while WP was just 5 of 7.
Christensen led WP with a game high 23 points, while
Tori Carroll added 16 points and 13 rebounds.
College of Idaho was paced by Felicity Jones with 18 points, while Katelin Shannon had 14.
