Janelle Weiss
Box Score SALEM, Ore. - Corban broke open a close game with a 9-0 run to start the second half and pulled away for a 78-58 win over Warner Pacific tonight in Salem.

The Knights were solidly in the game during the first period and led 18-17 after a Jessica Thoens three pointer at the 11:38 mark. Corban responded with a trey of their own on the next possession and did not trail again. WPC drew to within a single point (31-30) thanks to a pair of free throws from Megan Tullis with 2:38 on the clock but could not regain the advantage, and the Warriors went into the break leading 36-32.

The second half burst put the Warriors in control of the contest, and Warner Pacific trailed by double digits the rest of the way. WP's shooting touch suffered after the break, as the team made just 8 of 28 attempts during the 20 minutes of play. Kyeli Hendryx drained a trey midway throught the period to make the score 53-43 and give the Knights a glimmer of hope, but Corban took charge and pushed the gap out to as many as 23 points before settling for the 20 point victory.

Janelle Weiss led WPC with 11 points, the only Knight in double figure scoring. Thoens added nine points and five assists, while Tullis finished with eight points.

Corban was paced by Sadie Pilgeram's game high 19 points, while Tara Vanweerdhuizen added 13 points and six blocked shots.

COMING UP: Warner Pacific will take on Northwest Christian tomorrow night in Eugene at 5:30 pm.
