– The No. 16 ranked Eastern Oregon jumped out to a big early lead over Warner Pacific and cruised to an 83-59 win Friday Night at Quinn Coliseum.
The Mountaineers started the contest with 18-4 run and eventually claimed a 30 point lead, 44-14. The Knights managed to find some offense as the first half drew to a close, and trimmed the Mountaineer lead down to 22 (47-25) at the break.
EOU continued to grow its lead early in the second half and after a Payton Parrish three pointer, the Mountaineers found themselves on top by 33 points, 67-34. The Knights scored next five points to trim the Mountaineers lead to 28 points, 67-39.
However, the Mountaineers answered by going on an 8-0 run to build its lead back up to 36 points, 75-39. Warner Pacific scored the 14 of the last 18 points of the game. But it was not enough as EOU came away with an 83-59 victory.
Sophomore Kelsey Hill came off the bench and scored 20 points to lead EOU. Hill shot 7-of-8 from the field and 5-of-6 from behind the arc. Brittney Newcomb scored a game-high 24 points.
Courtney Walchli led Warner Pacific with 17 points.
