Box Score 2 VALLEJO, Calif. - Warner Pacific men's basketball opened the 2014-15 season with two wins at the Frank Dye Classic hosted by Cal Maritime last weekend.
The Knights began with a comfortable win over Simpson University, 78-57.
Coletun Tarr made his return to the court with a team high 18 points after sitting out last season with injury.
Doug Thomas added 16 points, while
Ryan Parks chipped in with 14 points including four three pointers.Â
The second night WPC faced the host and #22 ranked Cal Maritime and came away with a big win by the score of 63-53. Thomas dropped in 22 points while
Michael Hall contributed 13 points and eight rebounds to help the Knights overcome a solid Keelhauler squad.
"I was happy with how the guys played, especially on the defensive side," said coach
Jared Valentine. "We really caused both Simpson and Maritime some problems and made it difficult for them. Offensively we were okay for stretches but we have some things to work on. It was a good trip to see where we stand versus some good teams. We also got to see some of the city and spend some time together as a team away from the court, which is great."
