WP Women Roll in Home Debut

PORTLAND, Ore. - Warner Pacific women's basketball opened their 2014-15 home schedule by defeating Multnomah University 83-39 at Bart Valentine Court. 

The Basics

 Location: C.C. Perry Gym, Portland, Ore.
 The Short Story: Kyeli Hendryx scored a career high 18 points on 7 of 8 shooting to lead the Knights past Multnomah tonight in Portland. Most of the damage was done in the first half, as WPC led 50-19 at halftime. It was the first ever contest for the visiting Lions, who are playing an independent schedule this season in preparation for joining the NAIA and the Cascade Collegiate Conference.

How it Happened

• Warner Pacific scored the first six points of the game and never trailed.
• Multnomah did tie the game at 11-11 after Lexi Govert converted a three point play but could not earn the lead. 
• Hendryx drained a three pointer and a short jumper to put WPC back in front. 
• The score was tied for the second time at 18-18 after an Abbey Lewellen trey at the 8:47 mark, but the Lions would only score a single free throw th rest of the half.
• The run over the last eight minutes of the period reached 32-1 in favor of Warner Pacific, keyed by a trio of three pointers from Jordan Wilcox.
• After shooting at a 55 percent clip in the first half, the Knights cooled off to 38 percent in the second.
• Hendryx hit all three of her attempts from behind the arc after the break.
• The lead for the Knights reached as many 46 before settling for the 83-39 win.

Notable

• Hendryx's previous career high was nine points.
• Jordan Wilcox made four three pointers, making her 17 of 39 from behind the arc this season.
