WPC Stops Wall Walla in Four Sets

PORTLAND, Ore. - Warner Pacific defeated Walla Walla University in four sets this afternoon at C.C. Perry Gym. The Knights put forward their best defensive effort of the season, holding the Wolves to .058 hitting percentage.

The Basics

• Score: Warner Pacific 3, Walla Walla 1 (25-8, 25-17, 25-27, 25-9)
• Records: WPC (6-9, 4-7 CCC), WWU (5-10, 2-9 CCC)
• Location: C.C. Perry Gym, Portland, Ore.
• The Short Story: Warner Pacific was dominant in three of the four sets played versus Walla Walla this afternoon, with the visiting Wolves prolonging the match with a close victory in the set three. In addition to the performance on defense, outstanding individual efforts from Janessa White (24 kills), and Kealia Rosa (six service aces), pushed WPC to their 4th Cascade Conference win of the season.

How it Happened

• WP scored the first four points of the first set and never trailed.
• The Knights remained in control throughout the frame and Kealia Rosa capped the set with three straight service aces.
• Set two was much closer, and WWU matched the home team point for point to a 14-13 score.

• That's when Rosa toed the service line again and helped WP move out to a 20-13 lead that turned into a 25-17 set win.
• It looked to be a quick match after Warner Pacific scored the first six points of set three.
• The Wolves weren't prepared to go home quite so soon, and scored seven straight to take an 11-10 lead.
• The rest of the set was a back-and-forth affair, until WWU reeled off the final three points to stun the home team 27-25.
• Set four saw WPC go up quickly 4-0 thanks in part to two big blocks from Nicole Kincaide.

• The visitors could not recover this time, while Warner Pacific put down 14 kills versus just three errors during the frame.

Notable

• With 24 kills, Janessa White moved into 7th on the career kills list at WP (498).
