Knights Blast New Hope

PORTLAND, Ore. - New Hope Christian walked into a hornet's nest at Bart Valentine Court, as Warner Pacific routed the Deacons 115-45 tonight in Portland.

The Basics

• Score: Warner Pacific 115, New Hope Christian 45 
• Records: WPC (1-3), NHCC (1-3)
• Location: Bart Valentine Court, Portland, Ore.
• The Short Story: After starting the season with three straight losses, Warner Pacific took out their frustrations on New Hope Christian. Six Knights scored in double figures, and WP as a team made 15 of 27 attempts from three point range to overwhelm the visiting Deacons. NHCC had trouble with the host's zone defense, making just 23 percent of their field goal tries and committing 22 turnovers. WP on the other hand, scored at a 60.2 percent clip.   

How it Happened

Spencer Bankofier got WPC started on the right foot, draining consecutive three pointers to make the score 6-0.
• New Hope responded with a trey of their own by Josiah Lynch, but the Knights then scored nine straight to begin the rout.
• The shots continued to fall for the duration fo the first half for Warner Pacific, and Adam Westfall's make from distance in the final minute put the halftime score at 56-19.

• An 11-0 run from WP in the early stages of the second period removed all doubt of the outcome, with Charles Honest bruising inside for 11 points after the break.
• Lynch tried to put points on the board for the Deacons scoring eight of his 11 in the half, but Morris Bethea kept the points coming for WP with 13 counters off the bench including a 3 of 3 effort from beyond the arc.
• The final margin was the largest of the game, putting the wraps on Warner Pacific's first win of the season.
