WP Wrestlers Take on NAIA's Best at Desert Duals

Balke Cooper defeats NAIA defending champion at 165 lbs

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Warner Pacific men's wrestling team faced some of the best teams in the NAIA on Monday, battling three ranked teams at the Desert Duals held in Las Vegas.

The Knights were not allowed to ease into this competition, taking on defending NAIA National Champion Grand View University in their first dual of the day. The outcome was not unexpected as the team fell 46-12. Joshua Johnson and Blake Cooper scored pins to put the Knights on the board.

It didn't get any easier in dual number 3 for the Knights, as NAIA #5 Oklahoma City was next. This time WP scored 21 points behind wins from Crager, Robert Frasier, Cooper, Cesar Rodriguez Luna, and Stephen Wilbert. Cooper's win was over NAIA defending champion at 165 lbs Ricky McCarty.
