Jackson's Career Night Sends WPC Past Eagles

PORTLAND, Ore. – Daesha Jackson scored a career high 26 points to send Warner Pacific past Northwest tonight, 73-61 in Cascade Conference women's basketball action.

The Basics

• Score: Warner Pacific 73, Northwest 61
• Records: WPC (6-1, 2-0 CCC), NU (4-6, 1-1 CCC)
• Location: Bart Valentine Court, Portland, Ore.
• The Short Story: Warner Pacific received a career best scoring effort from Daesha Jackson, and the Knights shot 47% from the floor on the way to a CCC victory over Northwest. Jackson hit 9 of 18 attempts, including 5 of 8 from the three point line during the offensive display. The visiting Eagles were not out of the game until late, but 35% shooting (24 of 67) was not good enough versus a hot WP team. Jordan Asher kept the visitors close with 14 points and six assists.

How it Happened
.

• One of Jackson's five makes from behind the arc gave WPC a 23-21 lead at the 6:56 mark of the second quarter and the Knights would not trail again.
Kendra Preuninger drained a three pointer inside the final five seconds of the first half, and WP went to the locker room with a 37-31 lead.
• The teams traded baskets through much of the 3rd quarter, but Jackson tossed in eight more points, and Lindsay Loe converted inside to give the Knights a 57-50 lead going into the final period.
• Warner Pacific scored eight unanswered points to start the 4th quarter and take command of the game.
• Hannah Carlson finally cashed in for NU to stop the run, but the Knights reeled off seven more to build their largest lead of the night (73-53).
• NU finished the game on an 8-0 run but it was too late for any comeback.
