Knight Women Drop Home Game to Evergreen

PORTLAND, Ore. – The playoff hopes for Warner Pacific women's basketball took a hit tonight with a 59-51 loss to Evergreen at Bart Valentine Court.

The Basics

Score: Evergreen 59, Warner Pacific 51
 Records: ESC (14-8, 8-7 CCC), WPC (10-17, 3-12 CCC)
Location: C.C. Perry Gym, Portland, Ore.
The Short Story: Wanting to make a push for the post-season, Warner Pacific needed to get a result at home versus Evergreen. Trailing by just a single point (50-49), it looked like the Knights might do just that. WPC missed their final seven shots of the game however, and instead watched the Geoducks make several clutch baskets down the stretch to claim the victory. Daesha Jackson led the way for WP with 14 points, but the Knights as a team made just 34 percent of their field goal attempts for the game. Natasha Trinidad tossed in a game high 17 for Evergreen, who moved into the top four in the CCC standings with the win.

How it Happened

• WP started slowly, falling behind 21-11 after 10 minutes of play.
• Behind seven points from Lindsay Loe, the Knights battled back and trailed by a point (26-25) with 2:37 left in the first half.
• After Trinidad scored inside, the Knights got back-to-back three pointers from Jackson and Jordan Wilcox to take a three point lead into the break.
Evergreen took the lead for good at the 12:55 mark of the second period, and though WPC tried to rally the visitors got a timely basket when needed to turn away any threat.
• Several open looks would not fall for Knights shooters down the stretch, and the Greeners made key free throws to pull away.
