Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Senior Night Belongs to WP in Win Over Northwest

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Warner Pacific women's basketball team sent their seniors off with a rousing win over Northwest tonight by the score of 85-76, breaking a three game losing streak.

The Basics

Score: Warner Pacific 85, Northwest 74
 Records: WPC (11-17, 4-12 CCC), NU (11-16, 3-13 CCC)
Location: C.C. Perry Gym, Portland, Ore.
The Short Story: The Knights put up their hightest point total of the season, resulting in a much needed Cascade Conference win over the Eagles of Northwest University on senior night. Warner Pacific was just shy of their best shooting percentage of the year (.519), and made 11 of 29 attempts from behind the arc. The NU defense had no answer for the combination of Jordan Wilcox (21 points) and Daesha Jackson (20 points). The visiting Eagles were never really out of the game, but watched the Knights make several key baskets that thwarted any comeback attempt. Chanara Greene was a handful for the Knight defense, tossing in 18 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.

How it Happened

• WP had the hot hand early, and jumped out to a 15-5 lead thanks to pair of treys from Wilcox.
• The home team went cold midway through the first half and Northwest took advantage, turning an eight point deficit into 29-25 lead.
• Lindsay Loe stopped the 14-0 run by NU with a layup, then connected on a jumper to tie the game with 6:44 on the clock.
• Moments later, Wilcox drained another three pointer to put the Knights back into the lead for good.
• Megan Tullis made a pair of the free throws to send WPC to the locker room with a 36-31 lead.
• The Knights continued to score consistently after the break, opening the second half with a 9-0 run to take command.
• The lead for Warner Pacific reached as many as 18 points on three occasions, the last one at the 9:30 mark after two Jackson free throws.
• Northwest kept fighting, and started to climb back into the game behind the interior play of Chanara Greene.
• Kristen Frey also helped the Eagle cause with a pair of late three pointers, the last one with 30 seconds to play that cut the Knight lead down to 83-76.
• NU would not score again however, and Kyeli Hendryx made two free throws to provide the final margin.

Notable

• Seniors Lorena Torres, Megan Tullis, and Jordan Wilcox were honored before the game.
