Knights Stunned in Overtime by UGF

PORTLAND, Ore. - In a defensive minded and closely fought game at Damazo Field it was Great Falls that finally broke through for the golden goal, as the Argos defeated Warner Pacific1-0 on Saturday evening.

The Basics

• Score: Great Falls 1, Warner Pacific 0
• Records: WPC (3-5-1, 1-2-1 CCC), UGF (4-3, 3-1 CCC)
• Location: Damazo Field, Portland, Ore.
• The Short Story: Renan Zampieri scored the winning goal for Great Falls in an evenly matched CCC contest in Portland. Clear chances at goal were rare during the run of play, but UGF found the net when it counted in the first overtime period.

How it Happened

• The first half was generally quiet, with bost sides reluctant to commit numbers forward. A mere six shots between the teams were recorded.
• Second half action picked up the pace. Geovanny Vazquez cracked a dangerous shot in the 52nd minute that UGF keeper Marc Girones smothered.
• The Argos' Christopher Bisbo watched his blast hit the crossbar in the 75th minute.

• WPC looked to have a grip on the game and on the verge of scoring, hiting five shots toward goal in the final 10 minutes of regulation but Girones was up to the challenge.
• That set up the overtime result, with Zampieri finally latching on to a ball that was pinging around inside the box. His shot was tucked in the net with .12 seconds left on the clock.
