SOU Sprints Past Warner Pacific

PORTLAND, Ore. - Warner Pacific started fast but succumbed to a resurgent Southern Oregon squad, 75-54, inside C..C Perry Gym tonight in Cascade Conference women's basketball action.

The Short Story

The Knights surprised the 9th ranked Raiders by jumping out to a 27-10 lead after one quarter of play. With the socre tied at 7-7, WPC scored 18 unanswered points behind nine points from Amari Hampton to take command of the game - or so it seemed.

The visiting Raiders proceeded to crank up the defensive pressure and outscore the Knights 48-12 over the course of quarters two and three. The WP shooters went cold and passes went awry, while SOU found their scoring touch. Carly Meister powered in the paint for 11 first half points, then Autumn Durand took over for 15 points after halftime.

The action in the 4th quarter was much closer thanks to eight points from Kasara Brandenburg, but the deficit was too big for WP to overcome.

Neither team was careful with the ball - SOU committed 25 turnovers, while the Knights coughed it up 31 times.

Hampton finished with 14 points to lead Warner Pacific, and Daesha Jackson added 12 points and four steals.

Meister led all scorers with 16, while Durand added 10 rebounds to her 15 points.
