PORTLAND, Ore. – College of Idaho ran out to a 3-0 lead, then survived a comeback attempt from Warner Pacific to claim a Cascade Conference win today at a rainy and windy Damazo Field.
The match was evenly played throughout with both teams generating opportunities offensively, but the visiting Yotes took their chances well. Goals from Cole Fuller, Carter Perry, and Joao Cardoso put C of I in the driver's seat with 20 minutes to play.
Desperate to get back in the game, WPC began to flood the penalty area with players going forward. They were rewarded in the 73rd and 80th minutes with fouls in the box.
Johannes Reiber and
Junior Cordon finished both spot kicks to make the score 3-2.
The Knights were unable to find the equalizer however, and College of Idaho secured the CCC victory.
Warner Pacific falls to 3-7-2 overall, and 2-5-2 in CCC play. C of I improves to 4-7 and 3-5.
