WPC Rumbles Past New Hope in Non-Conference Match

PORTLAND, Ore. - Warner Pacific took a break from their CCC schedule with a home contest versus New Hope Christian, and came away with a 3-0 victory over the Deacons.

The Basics

• Score: Warner Pacific 3, New Hope Christian 0 (25-14, 25-12, 25-13)
• Records: WPC (8-9), NHCC (3-10)
• Location: C.C. Perry Gym, Portland, Ore.
• The Short Story:  The Knights had lost three CCC matches in a row and took our their frustrations on New Hope Christian in a non-league encounter. The team swung for 47 kills versus just nine errors for a .437 hitting percentage - the second best mark this season. Janessa White led all players with 16 kills, while M'Kailah Redden added nine kills and five total blocks. On the other side of the net, NHCC mustered just 17 total kills and a .026 percentage on the attack. 

How it Happened

• WPC quickly built a 5-1 lead in set one, but the visitors tied the score at 5 after putting down two kills.
• A 15-3 run by the Knights put the frame out of reach however, and White closed out the win with a kill.
• New Hope stayed within shouting distance in set two, trailing 11-7 after kills from Zoe Morelli and Sky Moskovitz.
• The home team would score 10 of the next 12 points to take control. Kaeli Martinez and Emily Granard got in on the action with kills to help WP to the 25-12 set win.
• Set three was a runaway for WP as the home team sprinted out to a 10-1 lead and did not look back.
• After the Knights took a 17-3 lead the Deacons rallied briefly to make the score 18-10, but kills from Janessa Mast, Taryn Frey, and Madden gave the match to the home team.
