PORTLAND, Ore. - Seven different players found the net as Warner Pacific exploded for 13 goals versus a short-handed team from Walla Walla tonight in Portland.
The host Knights scored early and often, and the rough outing for the Wolves defense was compounded when WWU goalkeeper Josh Fry was disqualified after his second yellow card in the first period.
Frank Orellana got the match started with a goal in the 3rd minute, then WPC tallied five more before 25 minutes were gone in the first half. Aaron Martinez replaced Fry in goal and made eight saves in an effort to keep the Knights at bay, but WP's man advantage put the Wolves' net under siege.
Orellana,
Junior Cordon, and
Isaiah Kim all finished the game with hat-tricks for Warner Pacific, as the final shot count was 34-2 in favor of the hosts.
Erdal Barkay and
Sam Basarab combined in goal to earn Warner Pacific's first shutout of 2016.Â
