PORTLAND, Ore. – Lewis & Clark opened up a big 1st quarter lead then made it last, upending Warner Pacific 73-56 in a non-conference contest.
Ayisat Afolabi was the catalyst for the visiting Pioneers, producing the double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds. 16 of those points came early in the game, helping LC to a 21-7 lead after the first 10 minutes.
The host Knights gave a better showing for the remainder of the game, improving to 43 percent shooting in the second half but could not make a sustained run.
After L&C went ahead 49-20 midway through the 3rd quarter, Warner Pacific began to see some shots fall through the net.
Chanel Celis hit a runner with 5:26 remaining in the game to make the score 66-50 but that is as close at WP would come.
The Pioneers received 12 points from Miyah Leith and 10 from Sara Hogman, as each made a pair of three pointers and L&C made 10 of 25 from distance as a team.
Darbi Pink led the Knights with 14 points including four makes from behind the arc. Celis added a season best 10 points, while
Kyeli Hendryx grabbed 11 rebounds.
