CHANDLER, Ariz. - The Warner Pacific men's basketball team escaped the cold and rain of Portland for a three game set in Arizona, coming away with two losses and one win at the Cactus Classic.
GAME 1 - Montana-State Northern 86, Warner Pacific 71
MSU-Northern won their 9th game in a row and remained undefeated with a 86-71 win over the Knights on Monday night.
The Knights looked strong in the opening period and the score was tied at 36 going into halftime, but the Lights went on a 20-0 run just minutes into the second half to extend the lead to 62-40 with 13:28 left in the game. WPC made a couple small runs late in the half, but it wasn't enough as Northern added another win to their perfect season.
Northern shot 36 percent from beyond the arc (11-30) while holding the Knights to shooting just 15 percent (2-13).
Bryce White led WP with 21 points, while
Charles Honest added 14.Â
GAME 2 - #15 Montana Western 87, Warner Pacific 75
It was a similar game and similar outcome as the previous night for Warner Pacific as the Knights fell 87-75 to Montana Western in the second game of the Cactus Classic. This time however, it was the first half instead of the second the proved to be WP's undoing.
The Knights fell behind by 13 points during the first 20 minutes thanks to an abundance of turnovers (16) that led to 24 points for the Bulldogs. WPC then matched Western point for point in the second half but could not muster a decisive run to make the comeback.

Bryce White exited the game in the first half with an injury and did not return.
Charles Honest led WP with 15 points on 6 of 7 shooting.
Collin Malcolm added 14 points and eight rebounds, while
Adam Westfall hit four three pointers on the way to a season high 12 points.
GAME 2 - Warner Pacific 93, Univ. of Calgary 86Â Â Â Â
Warner Pacific salvaged a win in their final game at the Cactus Classic, defeating Calgary 93-86.
The first half doldrums again plagued the Knights, as WP went down to the Dinos 46-36 after the first 20 minutes.
WP then exploded for 57 points after haltime led by 12 points from
Zack Gonzales, and helped by 10 points from
Josh Thomas off the bench.
Gonzales finished with a team high 20 points. The Knights received several strong additional performances including 19 points from
Charles Honest, 15 points from
Collin Malcolm, and 11 points from
Keaton Bankofier.
De'Corrius Sampson-Young did not make the trip due to a family emergency.
