- Warner Pacific earned a key road win over Walla Walla on Sunday afternoon by a score of 96-72.
The game started with the host Wolves holding a slim lead in the opening minutes, but the Knights fought their way back to take their first lead of the game at 15-14. Warner Pacific began to pull away in the closing minutes of the first half with
Keaton Bankofier hitting a deep three to put his team up 9 at 33-24 with two and a half minutes to play before the break. The Knights held a 39-33 lead as the first half expired.
Both teams played efficiently on offense to open up the second half, but WP heated up from the three point line which allowed a healthy 9 point lead at 50-41 with four minutes gone in the second half. With ten minutes left in the game,
Kaleb Tompkins drained a triple to give the Knights a ten point lead at 61-51. Warner Pacific never looked back from there, as they controlled the remainder of the game on their way to a 96-72 victory.
Bankofier scored a season high 20 points to pace the Knights.
De'Corrius Sampson-Young (15 points, 5 assists) and
Josh Thomas (14 points) proved to be a solid combination from the guard positions.
Zayne Browning was the top scorer for WWU with 19 points.
