PORTLAND, Ore. - The Knight men competed well versus Oregon Tech and Southern Oregon last weekend, but second half struggles sent the team home with two losses.
Oregon Tech 98, Warner Pacific 80
The visiting Knights led by as many as 9 points in the first half, but the advantage didn't last in the loss at OIT on Saturday.
WP enjoyed a 39-30 lead toward the end of the first period, but the Owls stormed back to take a 52-50 edge into the locker room.Â
The teams traded baskets as play resumed in half two, but four conscutive turnovers from the Knights turned the game in Oregon Tech's favor, and the host team ended the contest with a comfortable winning margin.
Keaton Bankofier led WPC with 15 points.
Southern Oregon 87, Warner Pacific 83
The WP men again played well in the first half - this time holding a 10 point advantage after 20 minutes of play. The same song was repeated in the second half as well unfortunately, as Southern Oregon came back to claim a narrow victory on Sunday.
Tristen Holmes scored all 19 of his points and dished out six of his eight assists in the second half to bring Southern Oregon back. Ben DeSaulnier also had 17 of his 24 points in the second half as he and Holmes combined to shoot 13-of-17 after the break.Â
De'Corrius Sampson-Young and
Keaton Bankofier scored 19 apiece for the WP. With the Knights down 85-83 and 12 seconds left, Bankofier came up with a steal of DeSaulnier's pass on the full-court press but was unable to finish inside, and DeSaulnier came up with the rebound.
