PORTLAND, Ore. - Warner Pacific couldn't find the range from the three point line, allowing a much more efficient College of Idaho squad to claim a 77-61 win over the Knights at Bart Valentine Court.
WP made just 4 of 22 tries from distance, and just 37 percent overall as the Knights equaled their lowest point total in CCC play this season. On the other hand, College of Idaho connected on 50 percent of their field goal tries including 11 of 24 makes from behind the line. Aitor Zubizaretta led the the Yotes with 18 points including three treys.
The game started brightly for the Knights, as the host team ran out to a 16-11 lead in the early action. WP hit a dry spell however, and did not score for seven minutes while C of I took advantage on the way to a 35-27 halftime advantage.
The second half saw the Yotes maintain a comfortable gap for most of the period. WP managed to cut the deficit to five points (48-43) with 12:06 on the clock, but C of I slowly pulled away from that point with timely baskets and solid defense.
Montel Shirley was the top scorer for the Knights with 16 points, and also led the team with 10 rebounds.
