PORTLAND, Ore. - Warner Pacific could not sustain a fast start, eventually falling to Evergreen 56-51 tonight at C.C. Perry Gym.
The host Knights jumped out to a 13-0 lead in the 1st quarter, forcing Evergreen into missing their first six shots and committing six turnovers. That lead was maintained through much of the first half, as WPC went into the locker room with a 28-19 advantage.Â
The visiting Geoducks responded after the break behind the interior play of Gabi Fenumiai. Held scoreless in the first half, the post finished the game with 16 points and 16 rebounds. Meanwhile the Knights found easy baskets harder to come by and were forced to watch Evergreen climb back in the contest.Â
After
Kyeli Hendryx gave WPC a 51-48 lead with 2:51 remaining in the game, the Knights would not score again. The Geoducks finished the game with an 8-0 run to complete the comeback.
Hendryx led the home team with 16 points and seven rebounds, while
Michaela Pin added 14 counters.
