PORTLAND, Ore. - Warner Pacific clinched at least the 8th seed in the Cascade Conference post-season tournament with an 89-73 win over Evergreen tonight.
The Knights were locked in offensively from the opening tip, and were especially deadly from long range in the first half. WP made 8 of 12 tries from distance and ended the period at 54 percent from the floor overall. Meanwhile, the visiting Geoducks had difficulty with the WP zone, and trailed 50-34 at halftime.
The teams played an even second half in the scoring column, but the outcome was never in doubt. Warner Pacific extended their lead out to 23 points on two occasions and kept the Geoducks at bay with defense that was effective for all 40 minutes.
WP received 42 points from the bench, led by a game high 22 points from
Josh Thomas.
De'Corrius Sampson-Young and
Collin Malcolm contributed 14 counters each.
Evergreen was paced by Jonathan Jack-Nixon's 10 points.
