PORTLAND, Ore. - 19th ranked Eastern Oregon won their sixth straight game defeating Warner Pacific, 67-43, Saturday evening at Bart Valentine Court.
It looked to be a long night for the undermanned Knights who dressed six players for the game versus the CCC's best defense. EOU jumped ahead 9-0 in the early action thanks to three straight treys from Payton Parrish. WPC regrouped with a timeout, and battled back to lead at the end of the 1st Quarter 14-12.
The slim advantage did not last, but the Knights put up a decent fight and trailed just 30-21 at the halftime buzzer.
The depth and talent of the visiting Mountaineers began to tell as the game wore on and the EOU defense was a strong as advertised, holding the Knights to 28 percent shooting for the game. EOU outscored the Knights 17-8 in the 3rd quarter, then cruised to the win over the final 10 minutes.Â
Parrish led the way for EOU shooting 7-of-15 from beyond the arc for 21 points along with five boards.
Bailey Allen capped a stellar weekend for WPC with a career high 26 points on 11 of 22 shooting. Kyeli Hendrix grabbed nine rebounds but was held to four points on 1 of 11 shooting from the field.
