ORTLAND, Ore. – Southern Oregon kept pace in the CCC standings with a 3-1 win over feisty Warner Pacific at C.C. Perry Gym today.
In what has become a theme for WPU, the host Knights racked up more kills and aces than their opponent, but also committed more errors which proves to be the difference.
Despite falling behind 7-1 in the opening set, WP slowly crawled back and tied the set at 23-23. The Knights then fought off one set-point before kills from
Lauren Tennyson and
Melisa Ljuca gave the frame to WP 26-24.
Set two looked to going the Knight's way as the home team built a 22-17 lead. The set turned in the Raiders favor behind the serving of Emma Ryan, and SOU closed the frame with an 8-1 run.
The Knights continued to fight on but the powerful Raiders came up with key plays when needed. SOU closed out the match with close wins of 25-22 and 25-21 in the final two sets.
Four Warner Pacific hitters amassed double-digit kills led by
Melisa Ljuca with 18.
Kealia Rosa capped off a great weekend with 56 more assists.
SOU was led by the power hitting of Taylor Ristvedt (17 kills). Dani Johnson added 13 kills and 13 digs.
