PORTLAND, Ore. – A season high 19 kills from
Macy DuCoeur helped Warner Pacific outlast Oregon Tech in a 5-set slugfest at C.C. Perry Gym tonight.
DuCoeur put forth her best effort of the year, finishing the match with a .500 hitting percentage on 30 swings.
Melisa Ljuca added a match high 25 kills during the win.
As has become the norm for the Knights, It was a feast or famine on the attack and from the service line. WP (7-14, 6-10 CCC) pounded out a season team high of 75 kills, but also tied a team season high of 34 errors. From the service line, the Knights also tallied a team season high of 12 aces, but conversely committed a team season high of 18 service errors.
The visiting Owls (9-13, 4-11 CCC) took advantage of the WP miscues, winning sets 1 and 4 with more consistent and mistake-free play.
Set two was the penultimate frame as the two sides fought point for point to the tune of 4 lead changes and 17 ties. WPU finally scratched out the 33-31 win thanks to a kill from
Melisa Ljuca and an error from OIT.
The Knights owned the deciding set, sprinting out to a 6-1 lead and cruising to the win.
