C of I Steps Past Warner Pacific in Three

PORTLAND, Ore. – College of Idaho hit for 19 kills in sets 2 and 3 to hold off a spirited challenge from Warner Pacific inside C.C. Perry Gym tonight. It was the 2018 home opener for the host Knights.

After a slow start in set one that resulted in an early 10-4 deficit, WP stormed back to take a 20-17 lead and force a C of I timeout. The visiting Yotes scored seven of the next nine points to escape with the set win.

The Knights were also in the position to win set two, leading 21-18 after a block from Melisa Ljuca and Danielle Strasser. Once again C of I rallied and closed out the set with kills from Ashley Pagan and Taylor Alexander.

The Yotes controlled set three and slowly pulled away with error free volleyball, winning 25-17 and claiming the CCC victory.

Ashley Pagan led all players with 16 kills for C of I, helping the team to a .273 hitting percentage. WPU was also efficient at the net, swinging for a .247 percentage paced by Haley Yoder's 11 kills versus just one error.
