Portland, Ore. | The Warner Pacific Knights traveled to north Portland to play an exhibition game against the University of Portland Pilots on Wednesday morning.
Samantha Morgan led the Knights in scoring with 11 points, shooting 50% from the field.
Â
Warner Pacific had a slow start to the morning as the Pilots got off to a 17-0 lead within the first three minutes of play. The Knights got on the board at the 6:59 mark in the first quarter. The first half was controlled by the Pilots, who outscored the Knights 54-16 in the first 20 minutes of play.

At the half, Knights Head Coach
Matt Gregg challenged his girls to just simply compete in the second half and not worry about the score. His girls responded and did just that, shutting the Pilot offense down.
Â
Coming in hot with their full-court press, Warner Pacific managed to get 10 steals and force 12 overall second-half Pilot turnovers and held UP to just 26.5% shooting in the last half of play, as opposed to their first-half 59.5%. The Knights lost the second half by just 4 points; 20-24.
Â
When asked about his team's second-half performance, coach Gregg responded, "They were challenged at half-time to compete, and they came out and they did that. They got after it, they rebounded, they went hard and that's all I can ask for."
Â
Kate Andersen, Alex Fowler and Keeley Frawley led the Pilots with 14 points each.
Â
The Knights will head north to Lacey, WA to face NCAA DII St. Martin's on Sunday, with tip-off scheduled for 2pm.
